Claremont is home to a very vibrant and thriving art scene. Dozens of well renowned artists came out Claremont during the WW2 era. Many of them were professors of art the Colleges, and went on to become quite famous and have had a huge influence on the artists that came after them.
Today, Claremont remains committed to preserving the rich art history of the city and is the home to many art museums and galleries.
While many of the Claremont Colleges have their own fine museums, Claremont has recently opened its doors to the Claremont Museum of Art. Located at the historic train depot, this museum is the most accessible to the public, and focuses on celebrating the community’s rich artistic legacy and promotes the cultural vitality of the region.
